Goodbye Folderblog!(back to index)I finally had enough and reported my photolog to Pixelpost. I really loved Folderblog and had been hoping it would go a long way with new features and enhancements. Sadly, that has not been the case. And since most of the features I wanted to see in Folderblog are now available in Pixelpost and then some I finally took the decision to jump ship. Good luck to those who are sticking with it...hope Donald returns soon and picks up the threads or Ikue's excellent stop gap enhancements will be in vain!

That is quite a dramatic farewell. ;) Nevertheless, I dont give up hope that easily. I finally came to the conclusion that basically, my enhancements of folderblog can be easily considered as regular "hacks" which were welcome before as Donald didnt say anything against them.
My extended codes therefore are not a new version of fb, but just a collection of badly-commented hacks and the people are free to pick out those they like. ;)

Yeah, I wish I could have persevered with it. But then it was getting difficult to manage my photos in the way I wanted and there were other functions I was missing too. So I made the choice! And yeah that dramatic farewell bit was intentional...in my small way hoping it would bring 'someone' back to life ;)

The enhancements can be found in the posting "folderblog ikue reloaded 1.0". And surprise surprise, as soon as Anil says goodbye it seems Donald is back to life. ;)

holy crap... :-/ did you pay anything for your folderblog? (at least i havent, but...) anyway: this is an open source project, and if no1 is as coding-safe as donald no1 should accuse him for his decisions or priorities...
if donald would have spent more time coding in the past, we would probably not have seen so many of his fantastic new photos... so donald, do what cha like!
anil, your statement is a shame, but your choice to go... and if you decide to switch, then just switch and leave folderbloggers alone... my opinion.

well I dont know if we really can call it open source, as changes or modifications are not allowed as far as I am informed. See the license hints at the bottom of the page.
and indeed I understand criticism in the current situation as donald doesnt care at all about contact attempts or whatever since months, leaving the project in a pretty bad situation.
