Enhancing folderblog?! -> Tetto(back to index)I wonder why the development of folderblog has to be that slow. In my opinion there is a lot of potencial in this tool, and although I already contacted Tetto there is still no response about it.
I am sure there are a few people around in here who are able and willing to invest some brain in enhancing the codes of folderblog, so why dont we do it?
It is really not that difficult to eliminate the known bugs, and to add some functionality. Cant we create a dynamic wiki page where everybody may propose changes and can include these directly into the sourcecode of an up-to-date downloadable fb.php?

I had a lot of hopes when I first used folderblog, but unfortunetly it hasn't really been working out. Not that I'm programer, but there seems to be something inately convoluted about how the back-end runs for this program. I feel like there is a lack of other experienced developers on this project.
Another thing that is really bad is the discussion board. It's really hard to find information from past posts, making it really aggrevating to find solutions or even share solutions because I know no one is going to be able to find it later.
Personally I love all the functions that FB provides, but unfortunetly it just doesn't run very well. I'm still trying to get the basic install working correctly. There is something wrong with the fp_exif.php:

I've been using Zenphoto more myself, it lacks certain functions, but at least it runs smoothly. Plus the support is the best I've seen. You should checkout the forum if you want to see a good example of how one should work:

I really do wish FB could function predictably, because it would be the perfect application for photoblogs in my opinion.

ps. I use fb v2 on my current website, and it works great for me, except for a few issues:
1. The index links "<
" don't work correctly in the categories page, for some reason if you click on any of the numbers it indexes all the pages for the whole site.
2. The whole process of having to name 20+ files for comments, and process 0-files for the folder categories adds a lot of work to bulk uploads. I feel like this issue could be resolved by relying on a php - database structure for containing the information.
3. Actually I just remembered another major one, the category checkboxes don't work, I remember once being able to just check a box in the admin mode for what category you wanted the image to be in, but it hasn't been working since.
I hope this doesn't comeoff as an indictment, but I really wish these thingscould work correctly, it would be perfect otherwise.posted by

pps. The inabillity to edit your own posts is pretty teeth grinding.

Well, all the issues you named can easily be solved by some PHP experienced programmers, that should not be the problem! Any people here who are willing to contribute, like me?

So what's being done? I'm not a PHP programmer, but I'm trying to work with the software and I'm not getting much response or help. I'm also seeing a lot of other people in this forum asking pretty straight forward questions and not getting any responses either.
The support is just not there.

something does need to be done to develop the discussion forum, and unless it's opened up to developers, I suppose only donald can improve it.
Editing posts would be a good feature, as well as an explanation as to what code works or not, what tags to use to display code [do pre tags work?]
<img src=example>
A search function of posts, and displaying dates of posts, and categories of posts would all help dearly.
I presume this forum is done as text files, or is it db? If it's db, extending this is a snap. If not, consider switching. The style of the discussion forum is good but the functionality must change.

apparently pre tags work, as do other more malicious tags I'd bet

re:displaying dates of posts
I'm referring to the index page, which is wonderfully simple but horribly unhelpful to track or organize support requests and responses.

I totally agree with you guys. The only problem is that just Donald has access to the administration of this website/domain. And as he does not answer since weeks to my emails, neither seems to be present in the forum, I guess we have a problem...
Of course we could set up another new website with a "normal" forum, but as you could notice that I am highly busy enhancing the folderblog code itself (and do have a regular job, too!) I just dont have the time.
So, if anybody wants to take over this job, you are welcome!

I'm up for the job, I'll let you guys know about this soon.

If you're familiar with Wordpress, I would suggest using it to power the forum.
You can checkout a couple examples of how it runs:
